A Birmingham Home Brought Back to Life

As soon as I saw the soft green, custom Gracie wallpaper on the feature of this home in the April edition of Flower Magazine, I knew I was going to love the rest of the house and it did not disappoint. Soft, rich hues and an eclectic collection of accent pieces from English antiques to abstract paintings adorn the home, creating a timeless atmosphere of comfortable elegance. Even more extraordinary is the story behind the original house, which burned down when struck by lighting. Using the remaining bricks of their former home, owners Patti B. and Dave Driscoll called upon architects, Liz and John Carraway and interior designer, Mary Evelyn McKee to help recreate their beloved home with a few fresh updates. They were determined the rebuild would mark a new page in the history of their both their home and family and not the final chapter. Happy Monday!

The marble entry is breathtaking and settee, one of the few family heirlooms that survived the fire, belonged to the owner’s grandmother. I am also absolutely wild about the carved fish leg console.

The soft shades of raspberry give a delicate warmth and sense of familiarity to this light filled living room.

An inviting curved sofa draws attention to the lovely architectural detail of the windows and the built-ins. The layering of textures and textiles is just superb.
I am not sure if this dining room could be more fabulous. From custom Gracie wallpaper to the antique dining chairs and arched doorway, it looks like a dinner party could begin at any minute!

The kitchen has a causal, farmhouse appeal with plenty of counter space for cooking and conversation.

Could you imagine better place to start your day than in this bright and airy breakfast space? The hardwood floors and coordinating chairs are so beautiful!

Oh how I would love to have an office with fireplace. I also adore the neutral tones of the room with just a whisper of blue.

The pairing of the teal trim with the grasscloth wallpaper is inspired!

This chic powder room is the epitome of luxurious.
The delicate blues and clean lines in the master bedroom paired with the chandelier, help create a sense of calm elegance.
Every detail of this bathroom is just exquisite.

The very definition of a room with a view! If you need me today, I’ll be daydreaming about sitting right here with warm sunlight streaming in and the sound of birds chirping outside.

XO,

Sophie
