Chinoiserie Chic Mini Series: Lauren Bruce Wodicka

Chinoiserie Chic Mini Series: Lauren Bruce Wodicka
Lauren Bruce Wodika

It’s time for the second to last edition of my Chinoiserie Chic Artist Mini Series. If you missed the first two editions you can find them here and here! Today I’m thrilled to be featuring the work of Virginia artist and interior designer, Lauren Bruce Wodicka. I first discovered Lauren’s work through a pop-up at the Tuckernuck flagship store in Georgetown. She was selling her iconic blue and white ginger jar and topiary oil paintings and I the moment I saw them I was dying to feature them on the blog. Every ounce of me knew that you all would love her work as much as I do!

From a young age, Lauren was constantly sketching and painting. She grew up in the rolling hills of the Virginia Piedmont region and found herself endlessly inspired by the beautiful landscapes that surrounded her. As she grew older, Lauren discovered her love for Impressionism and began studying the works of Claude Monet and other great Impressionists. These influences can be seen in her own paintings today through her use of distinct, short brushstrokes and colors and compositions that evoke a sense of tranquility, light and movement.

FLORAL COLLECTION

As if her blue and white paintings aren’t gorgeous enough, Lauren releases small oil painting collections frequently on her website and just released her latest series, a collection of florals. Featuring soft blooms and serene palettes are combined with small pops of chinoiserie elements and it’s not an exaggeration to say I want each and every painting. Get ready for some serious art eye candy!

Wodicka started her career as an artist painting landscapes and opened her first gallery in 2005. However, it wasn’t long until her eye for design and all things timeless quickly transitioned into a blossoming interior design business as well as small home decor storefront.

After I first saw Wodicka’s paintings, I began following her on Instagram and discovered her interiors are just as beautiful. She has a fresh, sophisticated and family friendly aesthetic that incorporates all of my favorite things. From bamboo wingback chairs and gold accents to soft, cool palettes with lots of neutral pattern play and layering, it’s no surprise I love her interiors as much as I love her paintings!

Although Lauren closed her original storefront several years ago to focus on being a mother (while continuing to paint and design on the side) now that her children are getting older, she is painting more, taking on more interior design clients and opening an online home decor shop. I can only imagine how beautiful it will be! The shop will be live on her site within the next few weeks, so be sure to keep checking her Instagram and website for updates!

Thank you so much for all of your sweet feedback about this series and I hope you’re as excited to have discovered Lauren Bruce Wodicka’s work as I was to share it! She’s definitely one to watch!
