Today marks the final edition of our Chinoiserie Chic Artist mini series! It has been so much fun sharing these four fabulous artists with you and I have loved seeing the pieces you purchased hanging in your homes. For those who have expressed how much you have enjoyed the series, don’t worry! Artist Spotlights will continue and from time to time, I’ll be featuring favorite artists of mine from a wide range of different genres.
Hint: Stay tuned next Friday because I’ll be featuring a new contemporary artist I was introduced to through Liza Pruitt.
As you know, one of my favorite things about having this blog is being able to use it to help share the work of “hidden” creative talent. This is why I’m so excited to share Nichole Bjornstad Smith and her Ginger Jar Series with you today! Nichole is an oil painter based out of Birmingham who took up oil painting as a creative outlet when she moved from her hometown of Chicago to Birmingham as a newlywed. After settling into her new home, she enrolled in an oil painting class and when friends and family saw her work, they began commissioning their own pieces. The rest is history!
Having lived in Alabama for six years now, Nichole has developed a love for all things southern, including timeless southern home decor. Her inspiration for the ginger jar series began earlier this year when she created a painting of a beloved family heirloom for her sister-in-law, a beautiful blue and white ginger jar. Word got out about her ability to bring favorite ginger jars to life through painting and after several custom ginger jar commissions, she decided to create a Ginger Jar Series that launches on her website TODAY! I’ve shared a sneak peek below and you can shop her prints and paintings here. Although they aren’t available for purchase until the 22nd, you can still browse the collection now and email her to pre-order! You can also email her to commission your own ginger jar painting for yourself or as a gift for a loved one.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of Nichole’s paintings! It’s always so exciting for me when I find artists whose work is not only beautiful, but also affordable. As I was looking through her ginger jar paintings, I found myself anxiously wanting to stock up now before she’s discovered and her paintings are no longer in my price point.
Although you can never go wrong with blue and white, in addition to painting ginger jars Bjornstad also loves painting treasured memories and cherished moments and bottling them in time through her art. Whether it’s painting a photograph from recent travels or sweet family moment, it sounds like this will be the theme of her next collection after the Ginger Jar Series and I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
